Over the month of March I have had the pleasure of playing with the Smiley Tillmon Band by filling in for Kate Moss on numerous occasions at venues such at Smoke Daddy and Hailstorm Brewing Company. They sure know how to groove! I have also had concerts with DePaul University involving the Jazz Combos and African Drum Ensemble and a great time playing with my classmates. The weekly residency at Taylor Street Tap with Rick King's Royal Hustle still lives on every Sunday and keeps getting bigger and bigger!
I had the time of my life being a seat filler at the 2019 Grammy's! I received the opportunity to sit within the first twenty rows for the majority of the show. This musical event showcase so much talent and really inspired to to continue pursuing the music business. Later in the month I got the change to play at the Pinetop Perkins's Fundraiser in Ohio to raise money for kids to go to the Pinetop Perkins's Workshop (where I will be assistant teaching over the summer). I am super thankful to be a part of the music community and to help these kids pursue their passion in music.
My first to NAMM in Los Angeles was a HUGE success! There were so many exciting booths filled with incredible musical gear to gaze upon. All of the musicians that performed at this event were incredibly talented, especially those playing at the Gibson after party! I also had an amazing time meeting some of my heroes such as Ana Popovic, Robert Randolph, Eric Gales, and Darryl Jones. A huge thank you to Daisy Rock Guitars for sending me there, hope to be back again next year!
December ended up being one of the most busy months I have had this year. I ended up getting the Roland Blues Cube to bring around for my gigs in Chicago which sounds amazing. I also announced that I am going to be an intern for the Pinetop Perkins's Workshop in June, so check that out! I have had the pleasure of playing with Rick King's Royal Hustle and the Smiley Tillmon Band for my remaining time in Chicago this year before heading home for the holidays. Also have a new video out playing Lenny. Thanks for the great year!
What a great conclusion to the end of the school year! I had a blast starting my third year at DePaul University and can't wait to come back next year. I performed at Buddy Guy's Legends with Rick King's Royal Hustle for the first time, and playing at my hero's music venue was the experience of a lifetime. I continue to perform at Taylor Street Tap once a week with the group, and had a blast visiting musicians in Philadelphia for the holidays.
