Radka Kasparcova is a blues powerhouse from Philadelphia who has already been established as a major blues artist. She has already won recognition in numerous areas such as being voted as one of the Top 25 Women in Blues worldwide in Blues- E-News magazine. With hundreds of performances at more than 150 different venues, nationally and internationally, her first blues show was playing with blues superstar Buddy Guy in front of thousands of fans. Her single “Wasted Years” has received international recognition on radio stations she continues to write. She performed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis three times, and continues to connect with musicians and fans from around the globe with her music.
Move to Chicago:
Since her shift to Chicago in 2016 to study Jazz Guitar and Finance at DePaul University, Radka has been extremely busy in the Chicago blues scene. She currently plays with Rick King’s Royal Hustle on a weekly basis in the Chicagoland area, and is a guitarist for hire for numerous other groups. She has had the honor of performing with musicians such as Buddy Guy, Joanna Connor, Mike Wheeler, Mississippi Heat, Smiley Tillmon, Marty Sammon, Tom Holland, and Linsey Alexander. Her main venues to play at include Chicago Blues Festival, Buddy Guy's Legends, Kingston Mines, B.L.U.E.S., House of Blues, and Hard Rock Cafe.
After plucking a string her first electric guitar at the age of 10, she has never looked back. She won the Philadelphia Songwriters Award after beginning her career with Tori Melhart, to record an album titled “Not a Fairytale”, which they brought to Nashville to play at the Bluebird Café. She has been featured three times at That’s So Philly and Berwyn’s Picks. Radka was a recipient of several scholarships from the Blues Foundation which led to her attendance to several blues guitar sessions across the USA including Berklee Guitar Sessions and Pinetop Perkins’s Workshop. Radka has also been an active participant in the local (Philadelphia) blues circuit, performing at hot venues such as Bethlehem Musikfest, The Bitter End, BB King Blues Club, The Sellersville Theater, and many others playing with jazz great Pat Martino, Grammy nominated Mikey Junior, Richie Cannata, Sue Foley, Don Evans, The Little Red Rooster Band, Roger Girke, and many others.
Radka’s blues band, Time Gap, was an exciting breath of fresh air during her time in Philadelphia. The band represented the city at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2016, and won overall Philadelphia Songwriters Project Award. They performed regularly at the blues festivals such as Bethlehem Musikfest and Phoenixville Blues Festival, and major venues such as The Sellersville Theater and the Twisted Tail. Time Gap released an EP titled “Flashback”, composed solely of their original, modern blues music. This CD is very well received by the critics and it is getting major airplay all around the world.
Radka currently plays a Gibson ES-335, Fender American Standard Telecaster, Daisy Rock Guitar (endorsed) Gibson Les Paul Studio, and Thundaburke CBG cigar box guitar. Her necessary amps consist of her Roland Blues Cube and Fender Blues Junior III. She adds to her unique tone using her favorite pedals: King of Tone by Analog Man and Dunlop Crybaby Wah.
